The Ammunition Technician position is located in Meaford, Ontario at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre and typically reports directly to the Ammunition Supervisor. Their primary focus is storing, packaging, issuing, receiving, inspecting, and shipping of live and inert ammunition and related items under the direction of the Supply Services Manager.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Selection, inspection, and preparation of issues of ammunition

• Inspection and repackaging of stores received

• Receipt of stores from other ammunition facilities or manufacturers

• Vets and completes all supply documentation before forwarding to ammunition inventory control.

• Conducts periodic ammunition inspections

• Inspection and segregation of aides-to-production, ammunition scrap and munitions scrap

• Disposal and demilitarization of non-serviceable non-explosive stores and non-serviceable salvage

• Assist in the disposal and demilitarization of non-serviceable, surplus, and obsolete ammunition and explosives

• Warehousing and repackaging of all stores respective of all policies and procedures

• Preparation of shipments of ammunition, explosives and explosive components and general stores

• Originates applicable transportation documentation in accordance with laws, policies and procedures for

corresponding shipments of both dangerous goods and general stores

• Observes compliance with and advises on all laws and regulations concerning the handling, storage and transport of explosives and ammunition

• Complete assigned special projects by required deadlines, as assigned by the Supervisor

• The employee is expected to always produce good customer service and a safe working environment

• Comply with all Department of National Defense (DND), Transport of Dangerous Goods and Canadian Base Operators (CBO) regulations, policies, and procedures

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Rank Qualified Corporal Ammunition Technician (ALGL) or Civilian Ammunition Technician (CAT) 2, minimum

• Current in AT trade related competencies

• Current 3K Transport of Dangerous Goods certification would be considered an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 6 years of working as either a military Ammunition Technician or Civilian Ammunition Technician or a combination of both

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficient knowledge and understanding of the following are considered an asset:

• Forklifts

• Pallet jacks

• Carts

• 3-ton truck with airbrake certification

• Zoom boom (RTFL)

• Hold a valid class G driver’s licence with a clear driving record and be able to obtain and maintain a military 404 driving licence

Proficient user of:

• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

• AIMS, DRMIS, AESIMS would be considered an asset

*Must be able to achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance*
