The Facilities Maintenance Assistant is a permanent, full-time position located in Meaford, Ontario at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre and typically reports directly to the Projects Supervisor. Their primary focus is to provide technical support in the Facilities Department in the areas of building inspections, contract administration and record keeping.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct annual building inspections for all facilities on site and update annual facilities condition report
  • Act as escort/liaison for inspectors, auditors and contractors
  • Provide/arrange/obtain utility locates
  • Provide back up support to the Facilities Helpdesk
  • Perform general labour work as required – carpentry, landscaping, and other manual labour
  • Assist the Project Supervisor/Realty Advisor with contractor management, including:
    • CAD drawings
    • updating and maintaining project files
    • Assisting with maintenance of the Facilities library
    • Catalogue and verify equipment lists
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Must be available for occasional weekend and after-hours work

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum high school diploma required
  • Post-secondary education in related field is an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of experience in a facilities maintenance role

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Multi-tasking is essential as it is common to have several contractors on site at the same time, as well working on new projects concurrently
  • Must have a valid G Driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain 404 license
  • Must be able to receive and maintain the appropriate level of Security Clearance (Level II – Secret) from Public Services and Procurement Canada.

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

  • Knowledge of building construction, systems and maintenance
  • Plumbing, HVAC and/or electrical knowledge considered an asset

Proficient user of:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
